The adventure takes you into the western mountains of Dhofar towards Shaat, one of the most dramatic natural areas around Salalah.
Shaat is famous for its towering cliffs, mountain landscapes and spectacular views over the Arabian Sea. From the elevated viewpoints, the mountains appear to fall directly towards the coastline below, creating one of the most impressive panoramas in western Oman.
During the Khareef season, the experience changes completely. Clouds and mist frequently cover the mountains while seasonal greenery spreads across the landscape. Visibility can change quickly, but the mist itself creates the atmospheric scenery for which Shaat is famous.
Shaat is also developing into a more prominent visitor destination with attractions including its walking areas, sinkhole, viewpoints, swing and glass bridge development.

Continue farther west to Rakhyout, a peaceful coastal town surrounded by the mountains of Jabal Al Qamar and the Arabian Sea.
Rakhyout feels very different from central Salalah. Its remote location, mountain scenery and traditional coastal character provide visitors with a glimpse of everyday life in western Dhofar.
The journey through this region is as important as the destination itself. Mountain roads reveal changing views of valleys, cliffs and coastline, with opportunities to stop at scenic viewpoints along the way.
Rakhyout is particularly beautiful during Khareef when the surrounding mountains can become green and misty.
The journey continues to Dalkut, also commonly written as Dhalkut, one of the most remote towns in Dhofar.
Located below the Al Qamar Mountains, Dalkut is surrounded by dramatic natural scenery. From the mountain road above the town, visitors can enjoy panoramic views towards the Arabian Sea before descending towards the coastal settlement.
One of Dalkut’s unusual natural attractions is its enormous baobab tree, locally associated with the distinctive baobab trees found in Dhofar. The town also has coastal viewpoints, a small fishing port and a beach.
Dalkut provides a fascinating contrast to Salalah. The isolated setting, mountain roads and small coastal community make the journey particularly rewarding for travelers interested in seeing less-visited areas of Oman.
The extended journey continues towards Sarfait, in the far western part of Dhofar near Oman’s border with Yemen.

The rare Black Camels, the lost city, now found and the climax of dune bashing in the Empty Quarter and the desert sunset. Finishing with dinner in the desert night and star gazing. We had quite a long list of places to cover, and she worked with us to make the plan as practical as possible. Our guide, Abu Salim, made the trip even more special. He has excellent knowledge of Salalah, the local culture, routes, and the places we visited. More importantly, he understood very quickly what kind of experience we were looking for and adjusted the trip accordingly. He was friendly, patient, and made us feel very comfortable throughout the journey. Initially, I felt the price was a little high, but after completing the trip, I genuinely felt it was worth the cost considering the private vehicle, long hours, customized itinerary, and the quality of the guide and service. We were not able to cover every place we had originally planned, but that was completely from our side. We got tired and realized only after reaching Salalah that the number of places we selected would realistically need at least 3 days to enjoy properly. In fact, both Amina and Abu Salim had already explained this to us at the beginning, so this was purely our own planning mistake. Overall, we are very happy with the experience. Good Tour While in Salalah We book the East Salalah Safari. The pickup time is on time, the Land Cruiser car is OK for 6 persons (but I think for people sitting in the most back side, the space is very small and I suggest to use bigger car for more than 4 persons).
