West Salalah Group Tour with Salalah City Gems: Caribbean of the Orient

Embark on a captivating tour from West Salalah to discover the stunning beaches that make this region a coastal paradise. Additionally, you will get a chance to see the popular spots in Salalah City. This is why we call this a combination tour of west and city. The West Salalah Tour is a perfect blend of culture, nature, and relaxation.

Note: This is the private tour, so the price is per car price and not per person price. Each 4×4 vehicle can accommodate upto 4 people.

Your journey begins with Sultan Qaboos Mosque, the largest mosque in Salalah and Dhofar region. Note: Dress code applies for mosque, which is mentioned below in details. After the mosque, you will visit the frankincense and perfume market, which is known as Haffa Souq.

The mountain trip follows. The spring of Ayn Jarziz, Ittin mountain, Tomb of Prophet Ayub, all offer spectular view of the mountains and a great drive.

After this, there will be a lunch break at a local restaurant, offering a delicious Omani cuisine. Lunch is optional and you have to pay at the restaurant directly.

After lunch, the journey to the pristine beaches start.

You’ll visit Fazayah Beach, a hidden gem with golden sands and turquoise waters. This serene spot offers the perfect opportunity for a refreshing swim or a peaceful stroll along the shore, surrounded by the untouched beauty of nature.

The adventure continues with a visit to the secret beach of Masood (Afoul), a secluded oasis where you can escape the crowds and truly immerse yourself in the tranquility of Salalah’s coastline. This pristine beach is a well-kept secret, offering an intimate experience with nature.

Next, Mughsail Beach, where you can take in the breathtaking views of the endless horizon and feel the cool sea breeze on your face. This iconic beach is known for its dramatic cliffs and blowholes that create a unique and mesmerizing natural spectacle. There are blowholes in Mughsail that is a must to visit and a unique experience.

Along the way, you’ll also encounter historical landmarks and panoramic viewpoints, providing a deeper connection to the rich culture and history of the region. Whether you’re swimming in the crystal-clear waters, exploring the rugged coastline, or simply soaking in the stunning vistas, this tour promises an unforgettable experience of Salalah’s most beautiful beaches.

Itinerary

Sultan Qaboos Mosque

The tour begins with a visit to one of the most iconic landmarks in Salalah. This majestic mosque, named after the late Sultan Qaboos, is a stunning example of Omani architecture and Islamic design. Marvel at its grand interiors, intricate tile work, and towering minarets. It’s a peaceful place for reflection, with a serene ambiance that provides insight into Omani culture and religion. Dress Code applies, please check the dress code at the end of the post.

Haffa Souq

A short drive from the mosque brings you to the lively Haffa Souq, a traditional market filled with the scent of frankincense, vibrant fabrics, and local handicrafts. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to browse for souvenirs, silver jewelry, and traditional Omani perfumes. Our guides will help you navigate the market and introduce you to the best local vendors.

Ayn Jarziz

Next, we head to the beautiful spring of Ayn Jarziz, nestled in the lush greenery and surrounded by cliffs. This natural oasis is a refreshing spot to enjoy the tranquility of nature. Whether you dip your feet in the cool waters or simply relax by the spring, Ayn Jarziz offers a peaceful escape.

Dhofar Ittin Mountains

From Ayn Jarziz, we ascend to Ittin Mountain, known for its panoramic views of the Dhofar region. Especially lush during the Khareef season, Ittin is an ideal place to enjoy the cool mountain air, take in sweeping vistas, and capture incredible photos of the valley below.

Spend 15-30 minutes in this spot.

Tomb of Prophet Ayub / Prophet Job

After a mountain ride and passing through small local villages on the way, you will reach to the famous tomb in this part of the world. The tomb of Prophet Ayub / Prophet Job, who is mentioned in the Bible and the Holy Quran and is the prophet of Jews, Christians and Muslims alike. Spend around 30 minutes and explore the views from the mountain as well.

Lunch Break

We take a break for lunch at a local restaurant, where you can indulge in authentic Omani cuisine and recharge for the next leg of our adventure. Please note that lunch costs are not included in the private tour. This stop is optional, and we can choose a restaurant that suits your preferences.

Fazayah Beach

After lunch, we head towards the coast to visit Fazayah Beach, one of the most secluded and picturesque beaches in Oman. With its turquoise waters, soft white sands, and dramatic cliffs, Fazayah is a perfect spot to relax, swim, or simply take in the natural beauty of the Arabian Sea. You can swim here for 2 hours.

The Frankincense Trail

The tour then leads to The Frankincense Trail, where you can witness an ancient frankincense tree and hear intriguing historical tales from your guide in just 15 minutes. This brief stop offers a glimpse into the region’s rich history and trade heritage.

Masood (Afoul) Hidden Beach

Tucked away in Wadi Afoul, this hidden gem offers peace and seclusion for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience. The beach’s pristine sands and clear waters are visible from the top, and it’s a great spot for photography and nature lovers. This will be a photo stop.

Marneef Cave and Natural Blowholes Fountains

Continuing along the coast, we visit Marneef Cave, a natural limestone cave that offers breathtaking views of the ocean. Nearby are the famous blowholes of Mughsail, where jets of water shoot into the air as waves crash against the rocks, creating a stunning natural spectacle.

This unique 30-minute trek takes you from the beach to the cave, providing a thrilling experience unlike any other in the Middle East.

Mughsail Beach

We end the tour at the famous Mughsail Beach, known for its vast stretch of white sand and dramatic cliffs. You can take a walk along the beach, feel the fresh sea breeze, or simply relax as you watch the sunset over the Arabian Sea. The rare Black Camels, the lost city, now found and the climax of dune bashing in the Empty Quarter and the desert sunset. Finishing with dinner in the desert night and star gazing. Mohammed and his brother were perfect hosts with many interesting and amusing chats in the Land Cruiser travelling there and back. Never a dull moment. Dress Code for Sultan Qaboos Mosque

For Women:

Headscarf: Women are required to cover their hair with a scarf or shawl. Clothing: Clothing should cover the arms and legs fully. Loose-fitting clothing is recommended to maintain modesty. No Tight or Revealing Clothes: Avoid tight-fitting or see-through clothes. Skirt / Trouser Length: If wearing a skirt or dress, it should be ankle-length.

For Men:

Trousers: Men are required to wear trousers that cover the legs. Shorts are not allowed. Shirts: Shoulders should be covered, so short-sleeved shirts are acceptable, but sleeveless tops are not.

General Guidelines on Shoes: Shoes must be removed before entering the prayer hall. It’s a good idea to wear shoes that are easy to take off.

We loved our trip. We were absolutely amazed by the crashing waves from the top! We also saw Prophet Ayub’ tomb. I was in awe with the picturesque view. Highly recommend. The best time to go to Salalah is the monsoon season called khareef we saw lots of greenery in august. Overall a lovely experience.

I would highly recommend this tour.
It is a complete contrast to the East Salalah mountain tour and shows the beautiful pristine beaches and spectacular views of the mountains in the region. Abo Salim was an excellent guide and driver. He was extremely helpful and obliging when the best photo opportunity’s presented. Our tour finished at a cafe called Al Marnif restaurant on the beach front with spectacular views of the ocean. Abo Salim is very knowledgeable on the history and culture of the country. Thank you for a great day.

The West Tour is definitely a highlight in Salalah. Beautiful beaches, clear water, fascinating rock formations. The blowholes are somewhat weather-dependent and there wasn’t much to see on our visit. Many thanks to our guide Abo Salim who went out of his way to make our trip perfect.

Mr Abdul Azeez was an excellent tour guide. He took us everywhere on the west side, very good English and answered any questions. He was very presentable, kind and helpful. His driving was also excellent and we all felt very safe. He gave us enough time to roam around rather than dictating how long we can spend at each location.
